Satavahana University was created in 2008 by the Government of Andhra Pradesh, India G.O.Ms.No.89 Higher Education (UE.II) Department, dated: 25-06-2008. The university has its roots in the former postgraduate center of Osmania and Kakatiya universities and updated in June 2008. The university was named after the Satavahana dynasty that ruled this region.
The university began in 2010 with the foundation of UG and PG universities in Karimnagar. Currently, there are 191 colleges at Satavahana University, offering various UG, PG and Professional courses. There are three campuses, the main campus houses the administrative block, the university college, social sciences & trade and the university college of sciences. A second campus is located near LMD by Karimnagar and hosts the University College of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
